The Panevėžys City Municipality actively seeks to increase people's activity levels; however, engagement remains rather limited. Targeted audience surveys have identified the main reasons why people do not participate in initiatives promoting physical activity in Panevėžys: respondents most frequently cite lack of information, lack of time, frequently changing conditions, absence of community, lack of family-friendly options, and infrastructure deficiencies. All of these factors contribute to low overall involvement of Panevėžys residents in physical activity. Therefore, the city municipality is searching for ways to address this challenge.
In order to increase the number of citizens actively spending time outdoors, the municipality must address several complex issues. Managing all the initiatives, projects, and activities happening in the city is very challenging, making it difficult for residents to select relevant information due to its large volume, varied sources, and often outdated or irrelevant nature, making the communication process highly complex.
The municipality believes that based on the survey data, it is possible to create an innovative platform or mobile application where residents can find relevant information promoting active leisure. Such a platform could integrate maps, routes, news, sports event calendars, create amateur sports communities, reserve infrastructure, and more. Citizens able to filter relevant information tailored to their personal interests could actively engage in ongoing initiatives and find other useful information. To popularize such a platform, gamification methods could be implemented, encouraging users to continue and achieve better results - this could include a point system, personal and city records, ratings for good ideas or photos, activity statistics, and prizes.
The platform or web application should be accessible via regular computers or mobile phones, user-friendly, and easy to administer. It is necessary to analyze possible levels of hierarchy for visitors and administrators so that information can be changed as quickly as possible and the risk of misinformation minimized. Since the platform would be intended for various individuals, measures need to be taken to prevent data leaks and criminal activity.
At the moment, we only have a preliminary idea, so the functionalities and anticipated possibilities may and will be subject to change. We are gathering relevant information, monitoring other similar projects, and exploring ideas for collaboration.
The current challenge in Panevėžys revolves around optimizing and automating eeffectiveness in student admissions to schools. Currently, the system accepts applications and verifies data; however, the process of school assignment is not automated. This manual process consumes significant human resources and time, leading to potential errors and inefficiencies. Analysis of Current System: The analysis of the current system reveals several areas for improvement. Firstly, the lack of automation in the school assignment process results in a cumbersome and time-consuming procedure. This manual approach not only increases the likelihood of errors but also diminishes the trust of residents in the system due to delays and inefficiencies. Furthermore, the reliance on manual processes limits the scalability and adaptability of the educational system to meet evolving needs and demands. Moreover, the absence of automated functionalities hinders parental involvement in the educational journey of their children. By integrating features that facilitate parental engagement, such as real-time updates on admissions status and school information, the educational system can foster stronger partnerships between schools, parents, and students. Opportunities for Improvement: To address these challenges, there are several opportunities for improvement. Implementing automation technologies in the school assignment process can significantly reduce manual efforts and streamline operations. By integrating data analytics capabilities, the educational system can gain valuable insights into enrollment trends, student demographics, and resource allocation, enabling informed decision-making and resource optimization. Furthermore, enhancing the system's transparency and accessibility through digital platforms can empower stakeholders, including parents and students, with timely information and resources. Leveraging technology to create user-friendly interfaces and communication channels can improve engagement and satisfaction levels among stakeholders, ultimately enhancing the overall educational experience. Overall, by embracing innovation and technology-driven solutions, Panevėžys can overcome the current challenges in educational processes and pave the way for a more efficient, inclusive, and student-centric educational system.
Panevėžys sees an opportunity to leverage social innovations in developing a web or app platform to address this challenge. While integration infrastructure and departments exist, in today's digital age, people often seek information online. Therefore, there is potential to connect them to the city's pulse and assist in their integration process more efficiently. By creating a user-friendly digital platform, residents, both returning citizens and newcomers, can access essential information, resources, and services tailored to their needs. This initiative aims to streamline the integration process, foster community engagement, and enhance the overall experience of individuals transitioning into life in Panevėžys.
